Overview
The Minor in Sculpture offers students a hands-on, material-rich approach to 3D artmaking. Starting with an introduction to sculpture, students explore techniques such as stone carving, lost wax casting, installation, and mixed media. With access to fully equipped sculpture studios, students build creative and technical skills while developing personal approaches to form, space, and material. This minor is ideal for students interested in spatial thinking, object-making, or public art.
Admissions Requirements
Authorization from the student, adviser and Myers School of Art is required to add the Minor in Sculpture.

MATERIAL EXPLORATION
Find your medium
Explore sculpture through steel, wood, plaster, found objects, mixed media and lost wax casting. Experiment with different materials and processes as you develop the technical skills and artistic direction that shape your work.
SPACE TO CREATE
Build, weld, cast and create
Bring your ideas to life in sculpture facilities that include a woodworking shop, metal shop, foundry and plaster area. Supervised lab hours provide access to these spaces outside of class time.
BEYOND THE STUDIO
Put your work out there
Gain experience beyond coursework through opportunities to work with visiting artists and exhibit your sculpture on campus and at regional venues. The Sculpture area also offers professional work experience through its student assistant role.
