ARCHAngel presenter companies raise $75M-plus to boost NEO economy
Northeast Ohio companies that have presented at ARCHAngel Network meetings have raised more than $75 million in follow-on funding.
The ARCHAngel (Akron Regional CHange Angel) Network brings together promising technology companies, investors, mentors, service providers and potential strategic partners in Northeast Ohio. Sponsored by The University of Akron Research Foundation (UARF), the ARCHAngel Network has quarterly meetings during which three to four regional, technology-based entrepreneurs present a business plan summary. The companies often leverage the region’s strengths in health care, alternative energy, information technologies, polymers and other advanced materials. Since ARCHAngel Network meetings began in November 2005, 65 companies have presented at the quarterly gatherings, and the network has grown to include about 500 members.
The ARCHAngel Network also offers advice and validation partners to help these young companies accelerate commercialization. Likewise, the ARCHAngel Network provides an entrepreneurial educational experience for students across Northeast Ohio and engages University of Akron students in entrepreneurship internships.
