A veterinary assisting course designed to prepare students for entry-level positions in the field of animal care is being offered by The University of Akron’s Workforce Development and Continuing Education Division.
The 10-week course, beginning Sept. 16, provides students a blend of lectures and clinical training. Classes will be held Thursdays from 6-9 p.m. at the VCA Green Animal Hospital in Uniontown. Clinical experience will be scheduled at Stow-Kent Animal Hospital, One of a Kind Pet Spay and Neuter Clinic, and the Akron Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center. The course, presented by Sarah Ford, DVM and veterinary behavior consultant, costs $699, which includes the textbook and clinical externships.
