Artist Eve Andree Laramee will explore the triadic relationship among art, science and nature during a lecture on Thursday, Oct. 28, at The University of Akron’s Myers School of Art.
Free and open to the public, the event begins at 6 p.m. in the Folk Hall Auditorium, 150 E. Exchange St. It is part of UA’s Synapse [art+science] series that aims to foster insights and interactions among scientists and artists.
"Through my work I speculate on how human beings contemplate and consider nature through both art and science in a way that embraces, poetry, absurdity, contradiction and metaphor," says Laramee, a professor of interdisciplinary sculpture at the Maryland Institute College of Art.
Laramee's work has been exhibited at the Venice Biennale, MassMOCA, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, the New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York City, and other venues. She has received awards from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation, the Guggenheim Museum, the Andy Warhol Foundation and others.
