The University of Akron’s Fred and Laura Ruth Bidwell Photography Series presents a free lecture by photographer Jen Davis on Wednesday, Oct. 12, at 6 p.m. at the Akron Art Museum, One South High St. in downtown Akron.
Davis creates intimate portraits and self-portraits that deal with beauty, identity and body image. Her recent works explore being overweight as well as the male gaze. Born in Akron, Davis received an MFA in photography from Yale University School of Art and now lives in Brooklyn, N.Y.
In addition to the lecture, Davis will also be in residence at the UA Myers School of Art on Oct. 13 and 14 to work closely with photography students.
