Wearing flippers and snorkel gear, University of Akron mascot Zippy will join the dancers performing "Zippy's Protection Zoo: Zippy Makes a Splash!" at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 27, at Summit Artspace, 140 E. Market St., in Akron.
Featuring colorfully costumed dancers from The University of Akron, "Zippy Makes a Splash" is a fun way to learn about endangered underwater species — including purple marsh crabs, sea otters, blue whales and leatherback sea turtles — and what we can do to help prevent these creatures from becoming extinct.
The 30-minute performance is free. Families with children ages preschool through fifth grade are especially welcome.
Beginning at 1:30 p.m., families can also create eco-friendly piggy banks, assisted by students from UA's award-winning Art Education Program.

Support for this performance of "Zippy Makes a Splash" comes from Target, The University of Akron Dance Program and the Akron Area Arts Alliance.
