Department of Education Delays FAFSA Results to March

The Department of Education has announced it will begin sending 2024-25 FAFSA results to schools beginning in the timeframe of early March. This is also the timeframe when students and parents can expect to be able to access their FAFSA at studentaid.gov to make corrections or finish applications if they were not able to successfully complete them the first time. UA will begin sending financial aid offers to new students as soon as possible once FAFSA results are received. Based on the Department of Education’s current timeline, we anticipate financial aid offers to be mailed to new students in April, and to begin awarding aid to continuing students in May.

We recognize that this situation is frustrating, but please know:

  • The FAFSA application is open and available at studentaid.gov.
  • All students should complete the 2024-25 FAFSA, if they haven’t already.
  • We are monitoring the FAFSA process and updates daily.
  • We are preparing to award aid as soon as possible once FAFSA results are received from the Department of Education.
  • Financial Aid Advisors are available throughout the day to assist students with any questions or to help complete the FAFSA. No appointments are needed, students and visitors may walk in anytime between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
  • We have eliminated our priority filing deadline and will maximize aid to students regardless of when they file the FAFSA.
  • Any changes or updates to the Department of Education’s anticipated timeline will be communicated immediately through Zip Mail, the Digest, and on our web page.

We are committed to making UA affordable for all students. Federal, State, and institutional aid programs remain in place and available, as they have been each year. Anyone with concerns is encouraged to visit the Office of Student Financial Aid located in Simmons Hall, Room 204.

ALL ABOUT FAFSA

FAFSA will be available starting in December.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is an online form you fill out to determine if you are eligible for federal student aid. Completing and submitting the application is free. We also use it to determine state and school aid. We recommend you complete it every year you are in school, regardless of your financial situation.

The FAFSA for the 2024-25 academic year (covering fall 24, spring 25 and summer 25) will be available sometime in December 2023, according to the U.S. Department of Education. Find out more on fafsa.gov.

Tips:

  • Visit the page, Big Changes Coming to the FAFSA for 2024-25, for important updates!
  • Apply by UA’s priority deadline of March 1, 2024, at www.studentaid.gov. Include our school code, 003123.
  • See step-by-step instructions about how to apply for and receive financial aid at UA.

Timing of financial aid award letters

With the anticipated availability of the FAFSA in December, the anticipated timeline for financial aid award offers to new freshmen is sometime in March.

For continuing students, awards will be available in accounts in April.
