Dance Institute of The University of Akron is "Puttin' on the Ritz" with hot dance and cool jazz for Pointe to the Future 2011, a benefit on Saturday, March 12, at UA's E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall.
Guests will enter Thomas Hall through the "Rhapsody in Blue" door and step onto the stage transformed into a jazz dance club. Cocktails and an auction begin at 6 p.m., followed by a dinner at 7:30 p.m.
The evening includes music by Jack Schantz and the UA Jazz Program, and performances by UA Dance Institute students.
James and Maureen Kovach are the guests of honor. The dress is jazz club cool, from tuxes to turtlenecks.

Pointe to the Future raises funds that support programs for all UA Dance Institute students. Founded in 1967 and now directed by Christina Foisie, Dance Institute of The University of Akron is a pre-professional, preparatory dance program for children ages 3 through 18. The UA Dance Institute also offers adult classes.
