A noncredit poetry writing class is being offered April 7 to May 5 at The University of Akron. The five-week course, “Poetry Twist,” blends instruction on the basic elements of poetry writing with in-class poetry exercises. Students will work with metaphor, simile, assonance, alliteration, image and rhythm. Copywriter Keith Woodruff, M.A., English and creative writing, adds a twist to this poetry writing class with tips on how poetry basics can spruce up other forms of writing such as proposals, cover letters and memos.
Classes are held on Thursdays 6 to 8 p.m. in the Polsky Building. The course fee is $169. Registration ends March 31.
