Mark Kent named American Academy of Chefs Fellow

Chef Mark Kent


University of Akron Crystal Room Restaurant Operations Manager Mark Kent has been named a 2011 American Academy of Chefs Academy Fellow. Kent, who also serves as chairman of the board for the Akron-Canton Area Cooks and Chefs Association, received the prestigious honor at the 2011 American Culinary Federation National Convention, held July 22 to 26 in Dallas.

Kent is the national chairman of the nominations and elections committee for the National American Culinary Federation. Prior to assuming his current operations management position, Kent served as the executive chef for UA Dining Services. Among his other previous posts, Kent was the corporate chef for the Concord Hotel Co., and executive chef for the Houston Yacht Club and for several hotels in Houston, Atlanta, Detroit and Cleveland. 
Kent is a former Akron American Culinary Federation “Chef of the Year,” recipient of the “Presidents Medallion” from the National American Culinary Federation and winner of the 2010 “Cutting Edge” award from the National American Culinary Federation.
