The University of Akron Hospitality Club will host a 9/11 Memorial Brunch 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, at UA's Crystal Room Restaurant in Gallucci Hall, 200 E. Exchange St.
The brunch will feature fresh menu items such as smoked salmon, herb-roasted chicken, French toast, oatmeal, sausage links and bacon, salads and desserts as well as an omelet station.
Half of the proceeds from the fundraiser will help support the Summit County Chaplaincy Program, which provides counseling to law enforcement officials. "A good two-thirds of our counseling is marital in nature due to stresses of the safety professions. We are running almost as many substance abuse sessions as formal therapy," says the Rev. Bob Denton, chaplaincy program executive director and a part-time faculty member in the Department of Sociology.
The remaining proceeds from the brunch will help fund educational events and activities for the UA Hospitality Club.
Price is $13.95 for seniors, $17.95 for supporters and free for children younger than five. For reservations, call 330-972-6615.
