The third semiannual Symposium on Biomaterials will take place Wednesday, Oct. 26, from 8:15 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Goodyear Polymer Center.
Keynote speakers include Dr. Bradley Weiner from The Methodist Hospital in Houston who will present "From Bedside to Bench and Back Again — A Journey Founded on Biomaterials" at 9 a.m. Also, Dr. Rocky Tuan of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and formerly from the National Institutes of Health will present "Adult Stem Cells and Nanomaterials in Skeletal Tissue Engineering and Regeneration" at 1:30 p.m. For a complete program list, contact Marj Riccardi at mericca@uakron.edu or 330-972-7539.
Jointly sponsored by UA's College of Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering, the Center for Biomaterials and Medicine, and the Austen BioInnovation Institute in Akron, the event is co-organized by Dr. William Landis, professor and G. Stafford Whitby Chair in Polymer Science, and Dr. Nita Sahai, professor of polymer science and Ohio Research Scholar in Polymers — Biomaterials.
The symposium is free and open to anyone interested in biomaterials. Attendance is limited to 125 participants. To register (registration closes Friday, Oct. 21,) contact mericca@uakron.edu or 330-972-7539.
