Barbara O’Malley, UA’s associate vice president for communications and chief communications officer, has been appointed to the board of directors of Northeastern Educational Television of Ohio Inc. (NETO).
Owned and operated by a consortium of the University of Akron, Kent State University and Youngstown State University, NETO is the educational services division of Western Reserve Public Media. Comprised of two separately licensed public television stations — WNEO, which serves Youngstown and WEAO, which serves Cleveland-Akron-Canton — NETO does not receive financial support from its consortium members.
“As a member of the NETO board, I am truly honored to represent UA and to support the valuable educational programming delivered to Northeast Ohioans by Western Reserve Public Media’s television stations,” O’Malley says.
Previously known as PBS 45/49, the organization adopted its new name, Western Reserve Public Media, on Oct. 1, 2008 to better represent the regional coverage provided by its two stations. In addition to broadcast, the organization also provides Internet, new media and print services.
