The University and the Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps 42nd Volunteer Battalion will observe Veterans Day on Monday, Nov. 12.
Following a continental breakfast for area veterans at Martin University Center, ceremonies will begin at 9:15 a.m. Guest speaker will be Lt. Colonel William Yoho. At 10 a.m., the ceremony will move to the Buchtel Flag Pole for a 21-gun salute, wreath-laying and talk by guest speaker State Sen. Frank LaRose of the 27th District.
UA's Military Services Center will then host the fourth annual “Honoring Those Who Serve Celebration.” The event will honor America's veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.
It will be held in the Musson Veterans Lounge on the third floor of InfoCision Stadium from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., immediately following the ROTC Veterans Day Observance. The social gathering, planned to express appreciation for their service, is for students, faculty and staff who are veterans, military service members, and their families and invited guests. (Winners do not need to be present in claim their prizes.)
The event will feature food and prizes donated by the Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers, BW3, Subway, Golf Galaxy, Spaghetti Warehouse and many others.
Other guests who will be attending to honor our veterans and provide resources on the on the FirstMerit Foundation Club Level on the fifth floor of InfoCision Stadium. will include representatives from the Louis Stokes Cleveland Veterans Affairs Medical Center, The Job Center, AmVets Career Center, Pedal for Heroes, Telehealth, VFW, UA Military Veterans Association and the Wounded Warriors Project.
