As the semester winds down and students prepare for finals, Bierce Library is offering a new service – Stress-Free Zones.
Now through Thursday, Dec. 6, and again Sunday, Dec. 9, Bierce 154 will be transformed into a Stress-Free Zone with board games, coloring books and calming music. Students can also learn meditation techniques on Wednesday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. and Thursday from 9-10 a.m. in Bierce 168.
In the past, University Libraries partnered with Undergraduate Student Government to provide free coffee during the week before finals, but after conducting focus groups with students last year, University Libraries has directed more enriched programming and events to students.
"The libraries try to meet all our students’ needs, not just computers and research," said Joe Salem of University Libraries. "Events like this are low-cost ways we can support our students."
In addition to the Stress-Free Zone and meditation instruction, therapy dogs will be available Thursday from 1-2 p.m. in Bierce.
Look for more programming like this at the end of spring semester as well. Late-night coffee will still be offered in Bierce and Science Libraries from 8-11 p.m. through Thursday, and Sunday.
