Expert on aging says professional partnerships are key to health

By 2050, the number of people aged 60 and older will triple. Jennie Chin Hansen, a top expert on aging, will discuss how partnerships among professionals are the key to meeting this population's evolving needs on Wednesday, March 28, from 3 to 5 p.m. at The University of Akron's Quaker Station.
 
As part of UA's School of Nursing Distinguished Lecture Series, Hansen, CEO of the American Geriatrics Society and immediate past president of AARP, will present, "Health, Aging and Caring: Through Interprofessional and Community Models of Engagement."
 
Hansen's experience as the AARP president during the national debate on health care reform underscores the lecture, relating her knowledge of community models of engagement for eldercare to the Akron community. Until 2005, Hansen worked with On Lok, Inc., a nonprofit family of organizations providing community-based services in San Francisco.
