Akron Law Alumni Association Honored Outstanding Alumni and Faculty on May 17
The University of Akron School of Law Alumni Association held its annual Alumni Awards and Class Reunion Dinner at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, May 17 in the Student Union Ballroom. The honorees were chosen for their achievements in the legal profession and their communities.

Record Attendance at 15th Annual Richard C. Sughrue Symposium on Intellectual Property Law and Policy
Nearly 300 people packed the John S. Knight center in downtown Akron for the 15th Annual Richard C. Sughrue Symposium on Intellectual Property Law and Policy. The Symposium was geared towards updating IP professionals on the latest developments in intellectual property law and how those developments will impact future IP practices.

Two Akron Law Students Advance to National Trial Competition in April
This past weekend The University of Akron School of Law continued its winning tradition in trial advocacy when it hosted the regional round of the National Trial Competition. Twenty-two law student teams from Ohio and Michigan competed in the tournament

Akron Law Advances to National Frederick Douglass Moot Court Competition
The University of Akron School of Law’s winning tradition in advocacy law continued this past weekend in St. Louis with a strong performance from Akron Law’s Black Law Students Association (BLSA) chapter. Team members Eric Foster and Terence Baptiste, both third-year law students, captured a third-place finish at the Midwest Regional Competition of the Frederick Douglass Moot Court Competition allowing the team to qualify to compete at the national level during the National BLSA Convention in Atlanta, Ga. from March 6 – 10. The team was coached by Rick Strong and Elizabeth Shaver, both assistant professors of legal writing and research at Akron Law.
