Biography

Jiyoon Jeong is a pianist and educator who recently joined The University of Akron as a piano faculty member. She also serves as an Adjunct Professor of Piano at Ohio Christian University, where she teaches piano and church music to students at various levels. Her students have gone on to pursue studies at music colleges and have received awards in regional competitions.

Dr. Jeong has received awards in national and international competitions and has performed with choirs, instrumentalists, and ensembles throughout the United States and South Korea. She has performed at Carnegie Hall, Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Seoul Arts Center, and Youngsan Art Hall, and has appeared as a concerto soloist with the Seoul National Symphony Orchestra and the Sookmyung Women's University Orchestra.

As a collaborative pianist, she has served as staff pianist for the University of North Texas Opera and Symphonic Band and has collaborated with the Texas Woman's University Chamber Singers and the Concert Choir, the Denton Bach Society Choir, Hanuri Opera, and Laluce Choir. She previously served as a Staff Collaborative Pianist for The College of Wooster. In addition to her work as a pianist, Dr. Jeong is active in church music, serving as an organist and music coordinator at a Lutheran church in Ohio.

Dr. Jeong earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance from the University of North Texas, where she studied with Adam Wodnicki and served as a graduate teaching assistant. She holds a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from Yonsei University and a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from Sookmyung Women's University.
