Know the Code

As a new member to our UA community, it is important for you to know your rights and responsibilities as a student so you can have a vibrant and safe start to your Akron Experience.

All incoming first year students are required to attend a mandatory workshop presented by The University of Akron Police Department, the Department of Student Conduct and Community Standards and the Dean of Students Office. Your Know the Code workshop covers campus safety, your student code of conduct, hazing prevention and important information regarding sexual assault awareness. You will be scanning in for this workshop, so please bring your Zip Card.

Your assigned workshop is based on your move-in date/time or your status as a commuter student – check out the assignments below. If you are unable to attend your assigned workshop, you can attend any workshop listed.

Students Living on Campus

*Please attend your assigned workshop based on your move-in date below:

  • Early arrivals that move in prior to August 22
    • Workshop date: Friday, August 25
    • Time: Check-in begins at 9:00 a.m. and the workshop will begin promptly at 9:30 a.m. Please arrive by 9:25 a.m. to ensure you have enough time to get checked in and get seated. Attendance for the entire workshop is required.
    • Location: Quaker Station
  • Moving in on Tuesday, August 22
    • Workshop date: Wednesday, August 23
    • Time: Check-in begins at 3:00 p.m. and the workshop will begin promptly at 3:30 p.m. Please arrive by 3:25 p.m. to ensure you have enough time to get checked in and get seated. Attendance for the entire workshop is required.
    • Location: Quaker Station
  • Moving in on Wednesday, August 23
    • Workshop date: Thursday, August 24
    • Time: Check-in begins at 3:00 p.m. and the workshop will begin promptly at 3:30 p.m. Please arrive by 3:25 p.m. to ensure you have enough time to get checked in and get seated. Attendance for the entire workshop is required.
    • Location: Quaker Station

    • Workshop date: Thursday, August 24
