University closed – Friday, Jan. 19

Due to the anticipated significant winter storm expected for the Akron area overnight and into tomorrow, all University of Akron campuses will be closed on Friday, Jan. 19.

All classes and labs are canceled.

  • Get specialized training, community experiences, and supports.

  • Get more in-depth information on topics like social determinants of health, health disparities, integrated care, and community issues like infant mortality and the opioid epidemic.

  • Work together to make a difference in the health of your community by developing and leading health and wellness programming for underserved populations in the Greater Akron community.

  • Receive a stipend of $1,000 per 80 hours (program year) for completing the required training and experiential hours.

  • Earn an AHEC Scholars certificate and identify yourself as an AHEC Scholar on your resume.

  • Build relationships with other ARI-AHEC Scholars and AHEC Scholars from across NE Ohio.

  • Receive mentoring and support from ARI-AHEC, UA, NEOMED and health professionals.
