3D4E Student Group promotes entrepreneurship, creativity, and CAD. Members are encouraged to develop technical skills through practice and group learning of SolidWorks, which provides a strong foundation for transferrable 3D modeling skills.
American Institute of Chemical Engineers
American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) is the world’s leading organization for chemical engineering professionals. At UA, this group is dedicated to encouraging relationships between students, faculty, and industry based on personal, professional, and social growth.
American Society of Civil Engineers
American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) is to enhance students’ networking, communication, problem solving, and team collaboration skills. Members are responsible for completing five service hours per semester, which can often be accomplished through the ASCE planned service and fundraising events.
American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers
American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) sets and advances regulations in the HVAC industry. The organization promotes education of young and experienced engineers on a global level. The UA chapter brings in speakers to share their experiences and help students grow professionally. We also take facility tours and educate students on the HVAC industry.
Biomedical Engineering Society
The Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) student chapter serves the undergraduate and graduate student body at UA by offering numerous opportunities for leadership, professional development, research, community outreach, and networking. The Society strives to enhance the educational, cultural, and social experience of its members, and to promote the awareness of research efforts currently being conducted by the members.
ChemE Jeopardy
ChemE Jeopardy is a student organization. Members meet weekly to practice ChemE Jeopardy games and compete in the regional AIChE conferences. The 1st place and some selected 2nd place winning teams from each of the 9 Regional Conferences go on to compete at the Annual AIChE National Student Conference in the Fall to determine the Champion school for the year. The UA ChemE Jeopardy team competed for the first time at the 2023 AIChE North Central Regional Conference (NCRC) and took home the First Place. The team moved on to compete at the National in early November and finished as one of the top six (out of 15) teams.
Construction Management Association of America
Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) is an organization for students interested in learning more about the construction industry. Students will have opportunities to network with guest speakers plus help communities in need through volunteer construction projects. Our most popular events are the Annual Employer Symposium and our Spring Break Volunteering Service Trip.
Corrosion Squad
Also known as the Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP), the Corrosion Squad equips society to protect people, assets, and the environment from the adverse effects of corrosion. The club meets monthly and hosts guest speakers from industry and academia who discuss research opportunities, corrosion failures and successes, and innovative technology developments.
Engineering Student Council
Engineering Student Council (ESC) UA Chapter is an organization that works to bring together the engineering students, design teams, and other student organizations through their council meetings and professional and social events throughout the semester. They meet monthly.
Engineers for a Sustainable World
Engineers for a Sustainable World (ESW) UA Chapter consists of student engineers focused on using engineering principles to improve sustainability efforts in the community and on campus. They design projects dealing with a focus on renewable energy, recycling, and water conservation and they educate through K-12 outreach programs, bringing in industry leaders to talk about sustainability efforts, and visiting companies that focus on sustainability.
EUREKA
EUREKA is the Association of Honors Engineers. This group hosts alumni, faculty, and industry speakers, as well as social events in the Honors Common Room throughout the academic year.
National Society of Black Engineers
National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) is one of the largest student-governed organizations based in the United States. NSBE’s mission is to increase the number of culturally responsible Black Engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community. NSBE UA Chapter offers its members leadership training, professional development activities, mentoring, career placement services, community service opportunities and more.
Polymer Student Organization
The Polymer Student Organization is for students at UA interested in polymer science or polymer engineering. The group is open to graduate and undergraduate students. Students meet regularly and participate in fun social activities like the fall picnic and winter holiday party.
Pride in STEMM
Pride in STEMM is a student organization devoted to the support of Queer students in science, technology, engineering, math and medical fields. We focus primarily on education, community building and professional development. We welcome all students including allies and non-STEM majors and are always striving to support the STEM and LGBTQ+ communities.
Re-Engineered Art
The students in Re-Engineered Art collect materials around campus to create art. Students work with imperfect materials and to see potential in everyday items. This new student organization brings together engineers, artists, and people who are passionate about the environment. The goal is to inspire a unique and collaborative group to create works of art to place around campus. Re-Engineered Art meets on a biweekly basis.
Rubber Division ACS
The Rubber Division, ACS student chapter at UA provides both undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to connect with the rubber and elastomer industries. This is accomplished through hosting professional Rubber Division events on campus, organizing industrial plant or lab tours, and connecting students with Rubber Division workshops and conferences.
Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers
Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) UA Chapteris to change lives by empowering the Hispanic community to realize its fullest potential and to impact the world through STEM awareness, access, support, and development. With their core values being familia, service, learning and resilience, SHPE envisions a world where Hispanics are highly valued and influenced as the leading innovators, scientists, mathematicians, and engineers.
Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics
Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) UA Chapter is to provide a forum for the discussion of applied mathematics research, including a lecture series on research and career development in applied mathematics, and to promote interactions between undergraduate and graduate students as they share their interest and experiences in applied mathematics. SIAM hosts social events that facilitate informal interactions between faculty and students, and plans field trips to research institutions and industrial corporations in Northeast Ohio that give students experiences on how mathematics is applied across disciplines.
Society of Sales Engineers
Society of Sales Engineers (SSE) UA Chapter is a student organization focused on providing a welcoming community where engineering and business students meet with industry professionals and explore career opportunities in technical sales. Members develop professional and leadership skills and participate in social events and company and recruiter-led workshops. SSE competes annually at the National Sales Engineering Competition to network with employers and develop practical sales experience.
Society of Women Engineers
Society of Women Engineers (SWE) UA Chapter is a student organization the helps women (and men) in engineering. Resources include workshops, training, resume editing, business etiquette, and networking. SWE members attend regional and annual conferences where further resources are available, including career fairs and professional development.
Tau Beta Pi
Tau Beta Pi (TBP) is the only engineering honor society representing the entire engineering profession. UA TBP Student Chapter is to mark in a fitting manner those who have conferred honor upon their Alma Mater by distinguished scholarship and exemplary character as students in engineering, or by their attainments as alumni in the field of engineering, and to foster a spirit of liberal culture in engineering colleges.
