Certificate in Surveying for Civil Engineers
The Certificate in Surveying for Civil Engineers is designed for civil engineers and civil engineering students to be able to meet the academic requirements of Ohio Revised Code 4733.11 - Professional Surveyor License Qualifications. The program focuses on equipping graduates with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in the field of professional surveying.
Professional surveyors hold a crucial position in land development and are responsible for upholding the precision of land divisions and property boundaries. The Program supports the State’s mission to widen the pool of candidates eligible to serve as Ohio’s elected county engineers, which requires dual registration as a professional engineer and professional surveyor in order to perform their statutory duties.

Admission Requirements
Admission to this certificate program is open to both current University of Akron civil engineering students and graduates of ABET-accredited Bachelor of Science programs in civil engineering. Current students are required to pursue the certificate concurrently with or following the completion of their B.S. in Civil Engineering.
Curriculum Guide & Courses
This 17 credit program meets the academic requirements of Ohio Revised Code 4733.11 - Professional Surveyor License Qualifications. All courses taken may be applied to the A.A.S. in Land Surveying and/or the B.S. in Surveying and Mapping.
