Offered by the Training Center for Fire and Hazardous Materials, part of The College of Applied Science and Technology at The University of Akron
The Professional Firefighter Academy will give you the training you need to begin your career as an emergency service professional. Students receive training from some of the top fire instructors in the state, and they learn how to perform in the safest, most efficient, and most effective ways possible while working at an emergency scene. Finally, upon successful completion of the academy and receiving Ohio certification as a Firefighter II, our students earn college credit toward a fire-protection technology associate degree.
This Firefighter Academy course meets current National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1001 Standard Professional Firefighter Professional Qualifications and includes 16 Hours of Drivers Training.
