Akron Law Announces New Criminal Expungement Clinic
The University of Akron School of Law in cooperation with the City of Akron has announced a new initiative named the Akron Law Criminal Expungement Clinic. The City of Akron has provided Akron Law with a $10,000 grant to finance the program, which will allow Akron Law students to assist Akron residents on having their felonies expunged from their records. Students will work under the supervision of Akron Law Legal Clinic Director and Professor of Law J. Dean Carro and Akron Law graduate Aviva Wilcher, who will serve as director of the Criminal Expungement Clinic.

IP Council Member Dr. Helen Free Honored by President Obama
Dr. Helen Free, a member of Akron Law’s Intellectual Property Advisory Council, was awarded a 2009 National Medal of Technology and Innovation on Nov. 18, 2010  by President Obama. Dr. Free received the prestigious award for work in the field of medical and clinical urinalysis testing.

Akron Law Makes Donation to Local Community Legal Aid Office
The University of Akron School of Law, as part of National Pro Bono week, made a donation to the Akron Community Legal Aid office. The $430 donation was given to Sarah Stratton, director of Community Legal Aid on Thursday, Nov. 18.

Harvey Nelson, CEO of Main Street Gourmet, is Inaugural Entrepreneur-in-Residence
Akron Law and UA College of Business Administration are hosting Harvey Nelson, CEO and co-founder of Main Street Gourmet as the inaugural Entrepreneur-in-Residence. During his residency at UA, Nelson will be speaking at classes and meeting with students, as well as working with the School of Law Small Entrepreneur and Economic Development (SEED) Clinic and some of their clients.
