SPAN 301 - SPANISH CONVERSATION

3.00 credits
Students will improve their oral expression by means of learning new vocabulary, class conversations and the presentation of dialogues. Students will also review and practice areas of difficulty (ser / estar, preterit / imperfect, the subjunctive) to further improve accuracy in oral communication.

Pre-requisites: SPAN 202 or equivalent (Placement Test).

SPAN 302 - SPANISH COMPOSITION

3.00 credits
This course is based on the combination of learning outcomes across Interpersonal, Interpretative and Presentational Modes of Communication. Although the focus will be on improving writing skills, students will be asked to read, listen to conversations and passages, watch videos, and speak with each other and their professor to gain a better understanding of the Spanish language and its people. Students review grammar to improve their mastery of basic syntactical structures (agreement and morphology in the major time frames), increase vocabulary, and use structures in a communicative approach to enable them to meet functional performance goals at the Intermediate level (mid to high). Students realize real-world communicative tasks in culturally appropriate ways and gain familiarity with the products, practices and perspectives of the Spanish language and its people.

SPAN 307 - SPANISH CONV. FOR HEALTH PROFESSIONS

3.00 credits
This class is designed for Spanish 300-level students to gain intermediate to advanced level oral competency in Medical Spanish that will enable them to communicate more effectively with Spanish-speaking patients.
Course conducted in Spanish.
Pre-requisites: SPAN 202 or equivalent (Placement Test).

SPAN 360 - HISPANIC CULTURE THROUGH FILM

3.00 credits

In this course, you will watch a series of critically acclaimed Hispanic films and documentaries to gain a deeper understanding of the most prominent issues that continue to be important in Hispanic societies, as reflected in their artwork. Through film viewing, critical readings and writing, and participation in discussion forums, students will achieve two main goals. 
Course conducted in Spanish.
Pre-requisites: SPAN 301 and SPAN 302 or SPAN 303 or permission from instructor.
